To the AET 2010 ANNUAL CONFERENCE: Re-Sourcing 3-Centered Knowing | from Sandra Smith, Conference Chair
If you find yourself seeking mind-opening conversations, creative process, spiritual as well as professional support, poetry, tears, laughter, music and heartfelt connections, then join us for the 2010 AET Conference, this year being held just outside of Asheville, North Carolina, and for the first time ever, in the month of October. All of this plus brilliant autumn color — all you have to do is register!
When Matt Aherns (outgoing AET President) and Cathy Wright (current AET President) invited me to chair the 2010 AET Conference, I had high hopes of participating in creating an event that was supportive as well as inspirational to our AET community. The AET Board shared their hopes for opportunities to strengthen community, deepen spiritually, and receive practical, professional support. As a teacher in the Narrative Tradition for the past nine years, I understood my own needs as a teacher for just this, so along with a creative planning team, we’ve thoughtfully crafted a conference that weaves these components together in fresh new ways. Wanna learn from a Sufi master? C’mon! Interested in exploring intuition? Join us! Curious about Gurdjieff’s understanding of the Enneagram symbol? Feel a need to hone your panel interviewing skills? Then, don’t miss this conference! Just sign up. Much more awaits you.
EPTP faculty, Enneagram professionals in the AET community, and guest presenters will engage us in discussions, panel interviews, movement, chanting, and meditation. This unique conference offers an array of sessions and presentations that will...
- expand our understanding of the Enneagram symbol. Read Jeanine Siler Jones’ interview with our Keynote Speaker, Cynthia Bourgeault.
- deepen our capacity to connect with and from our hearts with Sufi Teacher, Himayat Inayati, who will teach us how to clearly access the subtle heart
- hone our work with groups, clients, and organizations. Practice panel interviews with David Daniels and Peter O'Hanrahan and learn strategies for working with individuals.
- honor our personal spiritual journey with contemplation with Helen Palmer, walking the land, and daily meditations to remind us of our Essence
- expand awareness of our body’s wisdom using somatic exercises that help to drop us more deeply into ourselves
- invite us to grow new – thanks to Terry Saracino's constant invitation!
Additionally, the conference will weave intermittently with the Enneagram Intensive (held annually in October at the Montreat Conference Center), creating a rich opportunity to expand the Narrative Tradition community. We’ll renew friendships as well as offer a welcoming presence to those new to the Enneagram.
Bring your curiosity and a willingness to be changed. Our planning committee (Jeanine Siler Jones, Monirah Womack, Ruth Hill, Suzanne Dion, and Terry Saracino) looks forward to seeing you in October. And, don’t forget your hiking shoes!
In Anticipation,
Sandra Smith
2010 Conference Chair
